"To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic abberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest sense."
Charles Darwin,
Origin of the Species

And speaking of eyes, here is an optical illusion to wig your eyes out with. When you look directly at a wheel it doesn't move but letting your eyes rove around the picture makes it all seem to come alive. Optical illusions are so weird.

That's crazy!! I love the quote by Darwin. He kinda shoots himself in the foot with that one.

Hi Sariah!
Sorry it took me so long to notice your comment. I've got the winter blues and am having trouble, it's so hard to go out to take of animals in this weather, if spring doesn't come soon I'm going to vaporize.

Anyway, enough about me, thanks for asking about the geese. The bump on Buddies head is a breed trait. He, I mean SHE is part someting that is called a tufted variety. I forget which.

If you can commit to the experience then you should get geese for sure. If you spend lots of time with them when they are young then they will bond with you big time! Plus, they are really hardy, have few disease problems, will eat the heck out of weeds and can live maybe 20 years if you're lucky.

Actually, if you hand raise them 24/7 they will think they are people and not geese. Check this webite out. She keeps her geese inside the house all the time and she lives in a trailer. Even makes and sells diapers for them.

We considered it, even bought a diaper for Flipper but he outgrew it by the time we got it so we never put it on him.

I love them, glad that we have two so they can keep each other company. Flipper is a really good watchgoose. Now, our dogs know that when he squawks that there is someone outside and they bark too. Everyone that comes over is afraid of him. He wouldn't hurt a flea though.

Between him and our tom turkey they keep strangers and even ex-wives away from our house. lol:)

I think the Toulouse breed would be very cool to have. They are beautiful!

Hey, I had a thought. Do you have an incubator? If you did I could send you some eggs. They should be fertile a little later in the spring. That might be fun. I could even throw in a couple turkey eggs. We have Narris.

Let me know.
