Boise Zoo

Our little homeschool group had a field trip to the Boise Zoo on Friday.  What a cute zoo!  It's so green and lush you could forget you're in southern Idaho.  As the kids went around the exhibits they chose which animal interested them most and they will be doing research and writing a report on that animal this week. It was an enjoyable afternoon!

Enjoying the end of summer

I can't believe we're arriving at the end of summer all ready!  Last week we went to the canal with friends to enjoy a warm afternoon while we could.  I love the sunflowers all along the ditch banks this time if year and the bales of hay waiting to be taken out of the fields.  It's a beautiful month.

Awesome pig!

Reagan's favorite pig is so friendly and docile.  He can even sit on it's back!  We washed them both up and rubbed them with baby oil.  They are loaded up and ready to go to the fair tomorrow!

The garden

Our small garden is in full production!  We are picking onions, kale, beans, eggplant, various types of cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, peas (actually they ended a few weeks ago), and zucchini.  I love when the garden reaches the lush jungle stage.

Pie!

Baked 2 peach raspberry pies for our ward Pioneer Day celebration.  Can't wait to try a piece and see if they're edible!

Heidi

I asked Heidi where she learned a particular unusual word and she said on Mickey Mouse.  We both had a laugh and I said I guess we can learn things from anywhere.  She replied, "Ya, I learned something from TV one time.....but I forgot what it was!!!"

Afternoon rain

Almost every afternoon a rain storm or storm clouds and lightening have been coming through. It's a nice reprieve from the high temperatures, though sometimes all it does it make it muggy. Yesterday afternoon, Heidi and Leif took a stroll in the rain using our favorite umbrella.
